My friend and I called in on speck for lunch and we had a lovely welcome. We had a light lunch and coffee, which arrived quickly and was lovely.

Excellent food but small portions which means it is a tad on the expensive side. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff.

A True Gem of a Pub!
This pub is an absolute delight! The food was fantastic—fresh, delicious, and full of flavor. Every dish was cooked to perfection.
The atmosphere was simply beautiful—cozy, warm, and incredibly welcoming. It’s the kind of place where you instantly feel at home.
I truly believe that UK pubs should be recognized as a national heritage. It’s heartbreaking to see so many closing down when they are such an important part of UK culture and communities.
Highly recommend a visit!

Last visited Sutton Hall a few years ago, so I can't quite remember the overall experience. This time I can say it was a highly memorable visit. I was very pleased with the food. I had the Roast chicken Sunday lunch.
Very friendly and attentive service from the staff.

What can I say? Beautiful building, outstanding food and drink and brilliant service. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. The food was spot on the steaks melt in your mouth and the Parmesan fries are to die for! We had two courses, drinks and coffees Can’t recommend highly enough!

Because I am housebound we had a takeaway meal.
We all enjoyed the excellent food. I had the sea bass it was delicious.
one of us had the excellent vegan option.

Food was cold, chicken was like a shoe dry af. roast potatoes left under a heat lamp for hours. Over £20 for a roast. Hell no. Stunning building though, waitress was lovely though.

There were 9 of us booked for a Sunday evening sitting at around 6pm. Overall a lovely place, beautiful building, friendly staff and generally the food is good.
We didn’t have to wait too long for the dishes to come out but they where bringing them out one or two at a time with big gaps in between so by the time we could all start eating alot of the elements on the plate where cold. The greens on the plate came out cold anyway.
They’d ran out of beef roasts and all condiments which is bizarre and bad organisation. If you have a booking made a week in advance you should be able to work out based on averages, past Sundays etc, how much food to prep for a Sunday service so you don’t run out, specially something like beef on a Sunday. 🤷♀️
Me being the only vegan 🙄 I had the nut roast option. Carrot was cooked well with a bite. The greens, kale, cabbage and leek, were cold and raw. I can deal with raw kale and cabbage if they have some heat. But raw leek-cold was not pleasant, like eating a raw onion on a Sunday Roast- it’s jarring to the palate.
The hassle-back potato’s, aside from where the knife cuts were placed, were raw and I couldn’t eat them.
The gravy seemed bought in but the nut roast did have some nice flavours and was the best part of the dish. I did feel the ratio was way off however, the nut roast was a giant mound and then a small amount vegetables although that’s just my preference, because I love vegetables.
I would definitely return to try their weekday menu and the vegan dessert. Aside from my dish and the greens on everyone’s plate, the food was good for everyone else. It’s got a lovely atmosphere and great drinks selection, specially the whisky.

Booked a last minute roast this Sunday. Great service and the food was delicious! Lovely cozy atmosphere too. Will definitely be back!

Quite a special place, this has tons of atmosphere with muskets on the walls and really old parts of the building to dine in - ask to be placed in the Fireroom or the Library - both have large fireplaces. Next to the canal so there's a 2 hour circular walk to walk off the Sunday Lunch. We went for the Afternoon Tea which was quite special, had 2 hot plates of food as well as the cakes which was quite unexpected.
